What is a Jewelry Cleaner?

Because everything needs cleaning – even your jewelry, there exists something called a jewelry cleaner. It’s basically a solution composed of cleansing ingredients that remove muck, grime, dirt and grease from jewelry.

The most common jewelry that needs cleaning, and deep cleaning I tell ya, is earrings. And by the way, never clean your earrings in the sink, please. If they go down the drain, you’re done for.

DIY Essential Oil Jewelry Cleaner Recipe

This DIY essential oil jewelry cleaner is designed to be used on gold, silver, crystal, platinum and diamond. For cheap jewelry, I doubt it would work without turning it rusty or green in a matter of days.

Use this solution once or twice a month. If your jewelry gets dirty quickly, I have a tip below you may find helpful.

Be very careful when cleaning jewelry, countless people have lost countless expensive jewelry because the pretty things can be very tiny and easily losable.

What you Need

  • Warm water
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp witch hazel
  • 3 drops lemon oil
  • Small bowl

Method

  1. Get a small bowl and add 1 tsp witch hazel then 3 drops of lemon oil. Stir well.
  2. Now add the baking soda and pour warm water on top.
  3. Stir well until you get a milky solution.
  4. Place your jewelry in the solution and leave it there for 15 minutes.
  5. When the time is up, you can scrub it clean using an old toothbrush.

Tip: If you leave it soaking for longer, all the dirt will come off and you don’t need to scrub.

Caution

Do not over clean your jewelry, it can get ‘old-looking’ faster. If your jewelry tends to get grimy quickly, I have a good tip: leave it in a bowl of pure water overnight. The soaking will loosen any dirt and grime. Rinse off carefully the next morning. Voila! Clean jewelry!
