It’s easy to just dump them back in the jar or drawer after using because, laziness, too little time, etc, etc. Besides, you’re only using it on your own face not anybody else’s so nothing’s gonna happen, right? Wrong. Your face can very well break out if you don’t clean your makeup brushes.

DIY Essential Oil Makeup Brush Cleaner
Here’s are the ingredients needed to make your own DIY essential oil makeup brush cleaner:
Fractionated coconut oil – This natural oil from coconuts will dislodge grime and dirt that’s hard to come off with only water. It also conditions the brush bristles, leaving them soft and silky.
Liquid castile soap – A plant-based soap that’s in liquid form, liquid castile soap scrubs off dirt, loosens grime and oils from the brush. It also cleans the brush without the need for chemicals in conventional soap. Liquid castile soap is very gentle and won’t spoil your makeup brushes.
Tea tree oil – Antibacterial, antimicrobial and antiseptic in nature, tea tree oil actively fights germs. It is a great disinfectant and will deeply cleanse your makeup brushes.
Lavender oil – This fresh floral oil also has deep cleansing action. Lavender oil is moisturizing and will not leave your brush bristles looking dry and hard. It will condition them and keep them silky soft. Lavender has a nice scent that will leave you brushes smelling lovely.

What you Need
- 1 tbsp fractionated coconut oil
- 1 tbsp liquid castile soap
- 1/2 cup water
- 5 drops tea tree oil
- 5 drops lavender oil
- Mason jar
- Paper towels
Method
- Add all the ingredients into a mason jar.
- Swirl a makeup brush in the solution to mix it up then soak your makeup brushes for 10 minutes.
- After that, rinse off very well while squeezing the bristles in tepid water at the sink.
- Then place your makeup brushes on a couple of paper towels to dry thoroughly.
