Got tonsillitis? Don’t worry – there is a natural treatment for super fast relief: essential oils! Learn 7 of the best essential oils for tonsillitis and 4 essential oil recipes to use!
I suffered from quite many bouts of tonsillitis when I was a child and my parents went to different doctors who prescribed a variety of medications with all of them concluding that surgically removing my large tonsils, also known as tonsillectomy, was the only way to end my frequent agony.
My cousin at that time had her tonsils removed and my parents eventually decided to get my tonsils removed too. However, shortly after, my mom got some enlightenment after researching about the purpose of the tonsils. Tonsils play an important role in the body – being the first line of defense in the throat to catch infections and fight them off before they enter the body. So tonsils shouldn’t just be cut off and discarded because of frequent infections.
My diet was changed to include a lot of warming foods, soups and drinks especially during those old and rainy days that instantly guaranteed a tonsil infection. Other remedies included salt water gargles with hot water, applying vapor rubs and warming oils such as thyme, ginger, clove and others. All these remedies helped keep the tonsil area, chest and back warm to fight off the cold.
All these remedies do help and greatly reduced my chance of getting tonsillitis. Warming foods and warming oils are my best remedy so far. When I feel my tonsils irritated and getting swollen, which is rarely nowadays, I immediately turn to these for a quick cure so I don’t end up with full blown tonsillitis.
