5 Most Versatile Essential Oils You Need in Your Life

most versatile essential oils

1. Lavender Essential Oil (where to get it)

The number one essential oil in the world has got to be lavender oil, which is widely used in aromatherapy, cosmetic products, cleaning products, perfumery and more!

Having a sweet, powdery and herbaceous aroma, the scent of lavender invokes a sense of peace and calmness, dispels depression, alleviated anxiety and relieves stress and tension. It is also used to treat insomnia and promote deep sleep.

Use lavender essential oil for cleaning, in relaxing baths, in homemade lotions, for acne prone skin and more!

2. Tea Tree Essential Oil (where to get it)

Tea tree oil, also known as melaleuca, is extracted via steam distillation of the leaves of the tea tree. With a fresh, medicinal and strong herbaceous aroma, tea tree is a must have oil for any home.

Tea tree is rich in a wide variety of properties including anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-septic and respiratory-decongesting properties.

Use tea tree for steam inhalation during coughs and colds, to disinfect cuts and scrapes, for insect bite relief, treating acne, fungal infections such as athlete’s foot and cleaning surfaces.

3. Lemon Essential Oil (where to get it)

Cold pressed from the rind of the lemon fruit, lemon essential oil smells just like fresh lemons, only much stronger. It has an uplifting, penetrating and refreshing aroma that is sure to put you in a good mood instantly!

Use lemon oil to treat oily skin, athlete’s foot, colds and headaches, varicose veins, warts and more.

As with all citrus oils, lemon oil should be avoided for skin application during the day when the sun is out because it is photoreactive. Stick to using it on the skin during the night time.

4. Eucalyptus Essential Oil (where to get it)

Eucalyptus oil is one of the most thoroughly studied essential oils out there and is characterized by a fresh, medicinal and woody scent.

It is extracted by steam distillation of the leaves of the eucalyptus tree, which is native to Australia. Best known for its pain relieving properties, eucalyptus oil is also powerful as an insect repellent, bug bite soother and headache reliever.

Eucalyptus oil is especially useful in cases of respiratory ailments such as coughs, colds, bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia and sinus infections. It is also helpful for encouraging blood circulation.

5. Rosemary Essential Oil (where to get it)

Another powerful oil for respiratory issues such as allergies, colds, coughs and more, rosemary oil is one of the most versatile essential oils that every one needs to have a bottle of in their homes.

Rosemary oil is steam distilled from the leaves and stalk of the rosemary herb and has been used for centuries for its memory boosting, immune supporting and decongestant properties.

Rosemary oil is also infamously known to be a potent cure for reversing hair loss, promoting the growth of hair and preventing baldness.
