What is Lavender Essential Oil?
Lavender essential oil is one of my all time FAVORITE essential oils. It’s long list of benefits for health, beauty and more make it a must-have for your essential oil collection, especially for beginners!

Lavender essential oil is extracted via steam distillation of lavender flowers. The flower’s gentle, powdery and herbal scent has long been recognized as a powerful remedy in the field of aromatherapy.

How to Use Lavender Essential Oil
When it comes to using lavender essential oil, the possibilities are endless! Just make sure you exercise caution when handling essential oils. Keep away from the reach of children and pets.
Lavender is one of those essential oils that you can use without dilution, but still, make sure you dilute it especially if you have sensitive skin.
Here are some of the ways you can use lavender essential oil:
- Direct inhalation: This is as simple as taking a whiff of lavender oil straight out of the bottle! If you need to go out and about, and can’t carry around your precious essential oil bottle, then pour a few drops of lavender essential oil onto a handkerchief and inhale as and when needed.
- Diffusion: Invest in a good quality diffuser and see how wonderful your life becomes. Diffusers blast tiny molecules of the essential oil into the atmosphere, making it easy absorbed into the blood stream via the lungs. Pour in 5 – 10 drops of lavender oil into your diffuser 1 hour before bed for peaceful, undisturbed sleep.
- Relaxing baths: Once a week, soak in a tub filled with warm water, 1 cup of Epsom salts, 20 drops of lavender essential oil and ½ cup of colloidal oatmeal. This relaxing bath will help you unwind, soothe your muscles and help your body detox, too!
